Common pitfalls

• Treating general conversational Welsh fluency as sufficient for clinical use — the CEFR mapping here is specifically calibrated to clinical communication (explaining diagnoses, taking a history, handling sensitive conversations), which is a distinct skill from general social fluency at the same nominal level.
• Assessing only vocabulary, not clinical appropriateness — the framework explicitly rates clinical appropriateness alongside linguistic criteria; a linguistically fluent but clinically inappropriate response (poor bedside manner conveyed in otherwise correct Welsh) should score accordingly.
